Janica Milot is this 26-year-old young woman who gave birth to twin girls on the 13th of February and who learned, three weeks later, that she had generalized cancer, with a life expectancy of less than two months. The Quebec health care system having no treatment to offer, Janica decides to go to the Hippocrates Health Institute in Florida, a centre specialized in complementary health care.

During her treatment, Janica has a first severe episode of convulsions. She is taken in charge by specialists from the West Palm Beach Hospital, who propose an alternative to treat her cancer. Janica is transferred to the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida, where neurosurgeons successfully remove three brain tumours and save her life. It was impossible to perform these operations in Quebec. Janica can now begin the chemotherapy treatments needed to heal the rest of her body and can hope to live, one day, with her children and her common-law spouse, Anthony Lorange.
